Dear Ladies,

It’s time we spoke about “down under.” Not Australia, no. The Vagina. Did I just say that? Yes, I did and it’s Ok to call our body parts by their anatomical names, but that’s another blog. It’s time we talked about vaginal dryness.

Vaginal dryness is a health condition that can occur with while taking the birth control pill, during pregnancy, breastfeeding, the postpartum period, peri-menopause and most commonly at menopause. It is the result of decreased estrogen receptors in the vagina or urogenital tract and may be the hallmark symptom of Vaginal Atrophy or Genito-urinary Syndrome of Menopause or GSM. It may happen suddenly or gradually. Vaginal dryness may lead to sexual pain.

A woman can treat her vaginal dryness with with something as simple as Vaseline or hormone-free personal moisturizers for  as little as $160.00 by using GYNATROF a gel with an insertion plunger to $360.00 per year by using REPAGYN, an ovule inserted into the vagina. These are two products I recommend routinely to my patients because they actually go into the vagina to treat the dryness. They are not the the sexiest names but they have been tested, are approved by Health Canada and/or the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) and both work really well!

The personal moisturizers for vaginal dryness are available without a prescription as they are hormone-free:

  1. Repagyn – a hormone-free ovule that is inserted into  the vagina. Go to: http://repagyn.ca/where-to-purchase
  2. Gynatrof – a hormone-free gel that is inserted into the vaginal, available at London Drugs, Shoppers and on-line at www.Repagyn.com

Vaginal dryness affects upwards of 80% of women whether you are sexually active or not. If a personal moisturizer doesn’t work or if you experience symptoms associated with GSM such as burning, itching, thin watery discharge, post-coital bleeding, recurrent urinary tract infections and/or leakage of urine please speak to your doctor.  You may need a prescription for  low dose localized estrogen therapy.

Ladies, take back your feminine power and bring real joy back into your lives by using products that have been tested on women like REPAGYN OR GYNATROF ! It IS time to get your sexy back!

If you have any questions or would like me to send you a sample of Repagyn or Gynatrof, please email me at nursetalk@hotmail.com

Thank you,

Maureen
